Coming soon: Bar Rogue, a new wine bar from the duo behind Le Rebelle
Liam and Sarah Atkinson – the duo behind the much-loved French restaurant Le Rebelle – are spreading the love of Rue Beaufort, with a new two-level wine bar that arrives just in time for Christmas drinks.
Bar Rogue has taken over the space that once housed Jungle Noir and Mykonos at 515 Beaufort Street in Mount Lawley, giving the small 75-person bar a stylish shine that feels both large and cozy. Imagine exposed brick walls, velvet curtains, a mix of parquet and concrete flooring, a basket chandelier, cozy banquets and ornate handcrafted tables in Fremantle.
At the bar, Sarah’s dedication to all that is delicious is in the foreground. The wine list is packed with local gems and small producers, with bottles from Australian and international wineries, magnums poured by the glass, and rare finds that will make serious wine lovers swoon. Along with good wine, you’ll have a lot more to play with, with classic cocktails and a huge range of in-store appetizers and drinks. Plus, plenty of easy-drinking, low-alcohol options perfect for chilling out on a balmy summer evening.
Anyone addicted to the delicious Le Rebelle bar snack – the iconic crab toast – will be happy to know that you will have equally amazing bar snacks to munch on here. This menu, however, won’t look at a specific cuisine, but instead will focus on easy-to-eat and quality products, with a dozen small plates to share, all designed to be enjoyed over a drink. Think fresh sandwiches with crispy chicken skin and butter toppings, a one-bite taco named ‘The Lobster Super-Crunch’, sweet and sour ribs, duck egg custard with abalone and mushroom and a âCOLD fried chickenâ with caviar and cottage cheese that will undoubtedly be at the top of the list. There will of course be oysters too, as well as standing veg dishes, as well as a decadent sticky date pudding waffle that will be hard to get away from.
Rogue bar opens in early December for walk-in people only.
Until then, check out some of Perth’s best new openings.
