QT Newcastle unveils signature restaurant and rooftop bar – hospitality
QT Newcastle is set to open the doors to its new restaurant, Jana, and rooftop bar, Rooftop at QT, on June 9.
Modern Australian bar and grill, Jana, is located atop the QT hotel in Newcastle and will be the latest addition to the group’s impressive portfolio of venues.
Massimo Speroni was appointed Executive Chef after a stint at award-winning Brisbane restaurant Bacchus and also spent time at the 2-star Michelin restaurant San Domenico and 1-star Michelin restaurant Café le Paillotes in Italy.
“True to the QT philosophy, QT Newcastle will offer a highly inventive dining experience, showcasing local provenance,” says the chef.
“QT is a champion for delivering extraordinary experiences with a touch of luxury and originality, from design to signature service. I am thrilled to showcase and advocate for the beautiful Hunter Valley and surrounding regions.
The restaurant aims to showcase provenance with an extensive steak offering that has been curated in conjunction with local producers and suppliers.
The majority of the selection comes from producers such as 2GR, Riverine, Jack’s Creek and Rangers Valley, as well as lamb from Pukara Estate.
An open kitchen with a cured meat cabinet will be the focal point of the place.
The wine offering has been curated in conjunction with the hotel’s wine partner, Tyrrell’s.
“Tyrrell’s are the guardians of Australia’s oldest wine region, the Hunter Valley, and continue to re-emerge as industry innovators,” says Chris Morrison, Beverage Director of QT.
“Both are well established and respected in their own right. QT and Tyrrell’s are well matched in terms of growth and values.
Guests can also enjoy drinks offered at Rooftop at QT while overlooking the harbor.
In addition to an extensive wine offering, the rooftop bar will offer a wide range of Japanese whiskey as well as sake and umeshu.
Cocktails will include everything from a Harajuku highball to a Tomasu margarita.
Drinks can also come with an izakaya-style menu that includes salmon sashimi, chicken yakitori, and miso eggplant robata skewers.
Both sites will be launched with the hotel.
