Stepdaughter opens in Byron Bay

Prepare your taste buds, the crew of Northern Rivers – acclaimed chef-owner Jessi Singh will be opening her ‘non-authentic Indian’ restaurant Daughter in Law on Fletcher Street in Byron in mid-June 2021 and we’re already excited.

If you are not familiar with Daughter in Law, let’s get up to speed: Daughter in Law represents Singh’s journey around the world and caused a sensation in Melbourne and Adelaide. Singh calls it “world food with an Indian twist,” and we call it damn delicious because it’s just the truth.

You can expect Daughter in Law Byron’s menu to be a more coastal version of Singh’s ‘non-authentic Indian’, which sums up the Byron Bay lifestyle with an emphasis on seafood, vegan and gluten-free dishes.

Famous sommelier Bhatia Dheeraj will oversee the extensive wine list which includes local producers as well as interstate and foreign drops. All bevs, including a range of beers and ciders, will end up in self-service refrigerators. For cocktails, you can expect spicy Indian sangria (which is a blend of red wine, sweet vermouth, and orange), as well as Daughter in Law, which is made with Byron’s favorite Brookie’s gin, a pineapple cooked in a tandoori. and cardamom and lime. Damn it.

Additionally, 100% of the opening night’s proceeds will go to a three-pronged initiative close to Singh’s heart, which directly supports Indians through COVID. So keep your eyes peeled for more details as the launch nears.
